We moved in July and I think I’m finally recovering from all the changes and finding time for myself again. Me and my kids spent a few years in a tiny shoebox apartment in Capitola. We loved that apartment, it was so small I didn’t even have a bedroom, I had a futon in the living room, but it was so full of love and happiness that we didn’t care, we were happy to be there so close to the village and beach.
We moved to a beautiful house about 6 miles down the coast. I miss the village, but have exchanged it for my own bedroom, an ocean view and a much nicer place to live. We built a room for Cole in the garage, and it turned out amazing. What started out a little idea one night after a couple glasses of wine turned into something amazing, and even more full of love.
It’s a beautiful autumn day in Santa Cruz, so at lunchtime I headed downtown to Zoccoli’s on Pacific Avenue for a sandwich.
This might be my favorite sandwich ever. Warm grilled chicken, pesto, roasted peppers and swiss cheese. I had good intentions of only eating half and saving the other half for dinner. I ate every bite.
First a walk at Seabright.
I practically had the whole beach to myself.
On my way back to work, I stopped at Betty Burgers.
So. Good. They have awesome sweet potato fries and dipping sauce too… but I wasn’t “that” hungry, so I used a little self-control and just got a burger. It was delicious.
Not to be confused with the Bologna Festival, the Begonia Festival is held Labor Day in Capitola, CA. Capitola recently recieved the “Best Beach Town on the West Coast” award from Sunset Magazine. I hate to spread that around, because it’s still got it’s quiet moments.
The floats are made from fresh Begonia’s grown locally.
A gazebo decorated with flowers.
A pretty house on the river decorated for the festival.
My brother’s 3 9-year olds (triplets) came down and they stayed the weekend with their Auntie. They are wonder kids!
